Great wholesale price club. Terrible parking lot. Excellent baby changing table in the women’s restroom

Lackluster experience. Bummer because my family and I have had excellent experiences with almost all other BJ's on almost every occasion. I purchased (2) units of Pokémon cards and delivered them to my vehicle. I came back in and was going to get (2) other SKU's that I did not purchase if there was still stock on the shelf when I went back in, and there was. As I'm grabbing (2) new boxes which I had not purchased, Emily Y I believe said "Nope sir put those back, we're not selling those to you." I was a little dumbfounded but turned around and asked for clarification. Emily said my money was no good there and they are trying to keep cards on the shelves for the children and that I had already purchased my (2) units. Confused, because I have never been conversed with in this fashion by anyone at BJ's, ever - nor have I ever been told I could not return into the store for another order if stock was remaining. -Kids are not purchasing $50 Pokémon cards - their parents are - people like myself. -Keeping product on the shelves? The point of a box store is to sell product for profit. -I have been a longtime 10 year + member of BJ's and purchase weekly. To hear my money is no good ther

Very often BJs mails out an expensive, glossy paper 75 or so page catalog containing mostly dollars or cents off coupons with no final price stated. Coupons like that have never, and never will, encourage me to go there to buy one of these items. Unless you know the starting price, the money off coupons are useless.

This store is consistently clean, well-organized, and the staff are always helpful... and smiling. They stock a great range of items in every category that we shop for, and - as we're leaving the store - the person checking receipts seems to recognize us and greet us as a friend. The parking area is nice and large, and well-designed so we're always able to park near the doors, even on a busy day. Their gas station is also well-maintained and staffed. Something we've learned is this: If the line of cars is long, waiting to use the gas pumps, check back in 15 (or so) minutes. The line may be dramatically shorter by then. But, either way, BJ's price for gasoline is worth the wait; it's a tremendous savings over other gas station options. We've shopped at many membership stores around the country, and BJ's is the most consistently well-maintained and offers some of the best values. The BJ's in Portsmouth is a good example of why we like this line of stores.

Good selection of goods, big packages which some people prefer. Monthly sale coupons. Usually bulk stuff are cheaper than other stores, but sometimes not. Also Gass station is cheaper than others. With BJ's credit card you'll get additional 10¢ off.
